Another pleasant surprise.
If you like California Pinot for its lack of subtlety, spicy nose, and fruit-dominated flavors, you're going to love this wine. We've only been able to find it at Whole Foods and can't find a darn thing on the internets about it. Not even an image of the label.
Okay, so let obscurity be to your advantage.
The Block 45 has a bit of funk on the nose that clears with a quick pass through a funnel and/or decanter. After that it's smooth sailing into text book Pinot fruit.
And at $15.99, it falls into good company. We liked it enough to pick up a case despite our belief.
Rating: Not going to blow your mind, but, hey, it's pretty darn tasty for $16.
