Champagne Week #5 - NV Pol Roger Brut Reserve 'White Foil'

We're back on track after a nutty little detour yesterday with the only bonafide Champagne in the whole line up.  The ringer.  There's a reason the Royal Family chose this wine to be the official Champagne at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton - and the reason is in the bottle.  This wine is also the reason why the French have a superiority complex.

(Full disclosure: This wine was received as a press sample.)  Quintessentially Champagne.  Textbook quality product.  Lovely.  Elegant.  Too quickly gone.  If you're looking for a special occasion bubbly, but don't want to look like a gangsta, this is your ticket.  And even at $50, it could just be worth the splurge.

Open this late at night and drink it with scrambled eggs and caviar.  If only once in your life you're going to do something ridiculous, don't do it in half measures.  Go crazy.  Go top shelf.
