Crank It To E11even!

Review: 2006 This Is E11even Red Wine Central Coast $20

Want to be the first only one on your block to roll up your driveway in next year's hottest exotic?  Who doesn't?  Okay, so, it doesn't have a V12 under the hood, but you'll still appreciate the stylish, full throttle nature of this wine.  And at $20 (which your neighbors don't need to know), this debut bottling over delivers on thrills.

(Disclosure: This wine was received as a press sample.)
A kitchen sink blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, it's a spice box extravaganza that commands attention.  Though splashing a spectrum of flavors across the palate like a brightly lit magenta-to-indigo rainbow, first impressions are freshness, focus, and balance.  Surprisingly lively for a 5 year old wine.  Clearly well made - and dangerously accessible.  Deal.

The press release material says that the new label is "...the synthesis of childhood dreams and adult discipline.”  And that "We’d rather have our customers feel like they got a great deal\...to feel like they didn’t just get a 10, but rather an 11 for a great price."

Amen to that.  So, how do you put your hands on some?  The world wide web, of course.  Navigate your way to Andrew Murray's shop (the mastermind behind this new label) and fill your cart up with goodies.  While you're there, don't miss the other E11even wine, Purple Haze, an even more potent Viognier/Syrah blend that channels David Powell+Jimi Hendrix.

Spinal Tap fans everywhere rejoice.
