Looking for a wine to have on hand for when the neighbors pop over unexpectedly? Pepperwood Grove has love been a mainstay in the value category - and for good reason. Their Pinot Noir in the Groovy Green Bottle (received as a press sample) overdelivers at the rock bottom price of $8. Full, rich, and smooth, what it lacks in sophistication it makes up for in universal accessibility. Purists should look elsewhere, though, as Jeff Siegel, the Wine Curmudgeon, said of this wine, "...as long as you don't mind that it doesn't taste like pinot noir..." But, really, purists don't reach this far down at the grocery store, do they?
