A very deep ruby color with no cloudiness or opaqueness forecasts what follows on the nose: a brooding, close-to-the-earth darkness typical of many Portuguese reds. The attack, however, fires fresh, bright hillside herb and floral character up front, followed by a subtle balsamic note and tight red fruit in the follow through. The texture is easy-going and the finish lined with black pepper and beckoning tannins. A mix of aragonez (tempranillo), trincadeira, touriga nacional, and syrah. Pretty good for a ten dollar wine! 88 Points (Sample)
