Chablis From Argentina?

2021 Domaine Bousquet Chardonnay Reserve Tupungato Uco Valley $18
Domaine Bousquet is as reliable as the day is long, but also capable of surprises, as this wine proves. In vintages past, it's done a decent job honoring the Tupungato and/or doing a decent imitation of Northern California powerhouse chardonnay. Not in 2021, however. This time around, there is an unmistakable likeness to some of Burgundy's iterations of the same grape. Chablis in particular. That means laser beam focus, medium body, light on the oak, and delightful acidity in lock-step with the pure fruit thanks to high altitude (4,000 feet) vineyards and organic farming practices. And are you kidding me with the price? It's an outstanding value and a chardonnay I look forward to getting more of. 93 Points (Sample)
