When This Is Open, It's All I Want To Drink

Meet the 2023 Heredis Nebbiolo Langhe ($16) from Natale Verga. A bit of an anomaly versus many wines from Piedmont, this gorgeous red lacks the brownish hue the nebbiolo grape tends to yield, and it also isn't the dense, inky, international-style sort that seems to have been in vogue there for a while. Rather, it's a light-bodied, translucent ruby about three shades lighter than pinot noir, and packs an enormous amount of elegance, finesse, and crunchy acidity into its welter-weight package. An absolute joy to drink - and, at this price, purchase - I immediately sourced another six after making short work of the first bottle. Incredible bang for the buck. Very limited distribution means you may need to get it shipped. Try Wine Searcher or The Party Source.
